heiSKILLS Zertifikate für Studierende Certificate - Fundamentals of Applied Business Administration

In today's world, business management knowledge is essential for understanding the complex interrelationships within our economic and social systems. Even for students of natural sciences or humanities, a basic understanding of business management is indispensable – regardless of whether they later work in companies, public institutions or research.

The certificate in ‘Fundamentals of Applied Business Administration’ offers two specialisations, ‘Human Resources’ and ‘Marketing’, providing an excellent opportunity to acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge in this field – and thus to sharpen your own professional profile in a targeted manner.

Certificate Structure & Completion Requirements

Please note that new certification options will be available starting in the 2025/26 winter semester. We will provide more information about this here shortly.

Requirements for obtaining the certificate are:

  1. Successful completion of the compulsory basic module (4 ECTS): Course ‘Applied Business Administration Basic Module’ (2 x 2 days)
  2. Successful completion of the advanced module Applied Business Administration - Marketing (4 ECTS in total): Course ‘Applied Business Administration Advanced Module Marketing’ (2 days, 2 ECTS) and successful completion of the course ‘Fundamentals of Project Management’ (2 days, 2 ECTS)
    or
  3. successful completion of the advanced module Applied Business Administration – Human Resources (4 ECTS in total): Course ‘Applied Business Administration Advanced Module Human Resources’ (2 days, 2 ECTS)
    and successful completion of the course ‘Fundamentals of Project Management’ (2 days, 2 ECTS)

In order to receive a certificate of attendance,

  • at least 80% of attendance time must be documented on the attendance list and
  • all asynchronous teaching and learning components must be successfully completed. The course lecturer will inform you whether completed homework assignments must be submitted in order to receive a certificate of attendance.
  • One week before the course begins, participants will be sent tasks/questions to prepare for the Fundamentals of Project Management course. These must be completed and sent to the lecturer before the course begins.

Modalities for the crediting of ECTS points

  • After successfully completing the course, the heiSKILLS Career Service will issue you with a certificate of attendance, which you will receive by email.
  • The certificate of participation will indicate how many ECTS credits the workload corresponds to, which is suitable for crediting in the ÜK area after individual consultation with your department.
  • If your studies present particular challenges for you due to individual needs or impairments, please inform the responsible lecturer in advance or at the beginning of the course. We will then be happy to discuss with you how to ensure barrier-free participation in the course and how to take examinations.
