Italian
Benvenuti to the Italian Section Website
Italian is considered one of the most melodic and expressive languages in the world. It is the language of Dante, Petrarch, and Boccaccio, of opera, Renaissance art, la dolce vita—and contemporary icons like Måneskin.
Italian is spoken by around 85 million people worldwide, including about 65 million native speakers—mainly in Italy, Switzerland, San Marino, parts of Slovenia and Croatia, as well as in Italian diaspora communities.
Learning Italian opens the door to a rich cultural, literary, and musical tradition, offering new perspectives in fields such as art history, music, design, fashion, cuisine, and more.
