Students meet company - WISTEMA WISTEMA - Pioneer of sustainability

WISTEMA GmbH is a family-run, medium-sized company in its second generation. Since its foundation in 1990, WISTEMA has established itself as a pioneer of sustainability within the chemical industry, focussing on the recycling of industrial secondary raw materials and by-products as well as the takeover and remarketing of off-spec materials and waste streams.

The WISTEMA business model is therefore based on closing material cycles and avoiding waste. Together with business partners in medium-sized companies and large corporations, sustainable solutions are created in this way that make it possible to improve the CO2 balance and optimise financial returns. Another mainstay of WISTEMA is global trading with a diversified product portfolio of polymers, solvents, acrylates and fine chemicals.

The heiSKILLS Career Service is offering students and graduates a dialogue-oriented information event on the topic of ‘Biogenic raw materials: opportunities and challenges’ together with the chemistry student council at Heidelberg University. Lars Friedel (CEO), Dr Jens Utecht (Business Development Manager) and Dr Michael Schukin (Regulatory Affairs Manager) will be present. They will provide insights into the challenges of closing material cycles while avoiding waste and use specific examples to explain what this means for the day-to-day work of chemists and other professional groups in the company. The event is designed for dialogue. All participants are invited to contribute their own questions and perspectives.

The event is primarily aimed at students and graduates of chemistry, pharmacy and biology. However, interested parties from other disciplines are also welcome. The speakers will be available for individual questions at a get-together after the lecture.
