Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning German for First Graders

Children starting school in Germany are often linguistically not well prepared for the transition. Both multilingual children and monolingual children frequently lack age-appropriate skills in vocabulary, grammar, and text comprehension. This puts them at a disadvantage when beginning their formal education.

Targeted language support, starting at preschool age, can effectively help children when they start school.

The “German for First Graders” training programs introduce participants to a linguistically grounded language support concept developed at Heidelberg University, designed for daycare centers and elementary schools.
