Meet2Talk Surviving chatGPT: student-driven research projects as an alternative teaching format

  • Wednesday, 25. March 2026, 18:00 - 20:00
  • Online
    • Prof. Dr. Carl Herrmann

ChatGPT and similar AI tools have fundamentally changed universities over the past three years. Students use these tools every day to deepen their understanding of course content, retrieve knowledge, and generate new content. As a result, traditional teaching and examination formats such as term papers and presentations are becoming increasingly less important. What added value do we as lecturers bring in this context? One possible answer lies in the use of new teaching formats, especially those that focus on independent scientific thinking and scientific work processes.

The talk will introduce various forms of project-based teaching. The focus will be on group work in which students work on research-related projects over longer periods of time. We will discuss suitable support formats and evaluation methods and share experiences from various courses. The aim is to identify key success factors for implementing this innovative teaching concept.
