Bulgarian

добре дошли to the Bulgarian Section Website!

Bulgarian is the official language of the Republic of Bulgaria and is spoken as a native language by about 7 million people. It belongs to the South Slavic language group and uses the Cyrillic alphabet, which was historically developed in Bulgaria and later became influential for many other Slavic languages.

As one of the oldest documented Slavic languages, Bulgarian has some unique linguistic features—such as the loss of cases in modern usage and a highly developed verbal system.

The language provides access to a rich literary and cultural tradition as well as to academic sources and original texts that are rarely available in other languages—especially in the fields of Slavic studies, historical linguistics, and Balkan research.
