Joint Project eduNexus BW ESF-Plus funding for continuing education

As part of the ESF Plus-funded joint project EduNEXUS BW, Heidelberg University, Ulm University and Ulm University of Applied Sciences are developing innovative continuing education formats for the future. In view of the ongoing transformation of the economy and society, the project aims to adapt professional qualifications to the changing requirements of the labour market through scientifically sound, practical and flexible programmes.

A central component of EduNEXUS BW is the development of a strategy for the continuous analysis of technological, economic and social change and the associated changes in continuing education needs. This is achieved by establishing a long-term and structured exchange between society, industry, Heidelberg University, Ulm University and Ulm University of Applied Sciences. The aim is to create a solid network between universities and external partners and to focus even more strongly on universities as sparring partners for employee training. Experience from the Hochschulweiterbildung@BW initiative shows that trusting network structures are essential for sustainable cooperation with companies.

In addition to establishing the networking process, specific training courses are already being planned. The universities are focusing specifically on forward-looking areas:

  • Ulm University of Applied Sciences: Hydrogen technology, materials science, sustainability
  • University of Ulm: Artificial intelligence
  • University of Heidelberg: Violence and abuse: Recognise and act

With an approach that meets the three core criteria of flexibility, demand orientation and practical relevance, EduNEXUS BW responds to dynamic technological and social developments and creates future-oriented, scientifically sound and, at the same time, application-oriented continuing education opportunities.

The EduNEXUS BW project, which will run from 1 March 2025 to 30 June 2028, is one of eleven projects funded by the ESF Plus programme in Baden-Württemberg.
