In 2015, funding instruments for professional continuing education were supplemented by an important measure. On July 1, 2015, the Educational Leave Act of Baden-Württemberg (BzG BW) entered into force. This gives employees in Baden-Württemberg the opportunity, under certain conditions, to be released by their employer to participate in continuing education.
It is essential that the provider is recognized by the Karlsruhe Regional Council as an educational provider under the BzG BW. Educational leave may only be taken for professional or political continuing education, or for qualification to perform voluntary activities. Applications for educational leave must be submitted directly to the employer, no later than nine weeks before the start of the continuing education program.
The point of contact for all matters relating to the Educational Leave Act is the Regional Council of Karlsruhe.
