Project Profile KP_BNE_4_ALL: Releasing the Digital Learning Materials of Climate Physics meets BNE from Moodle

Project Objective

The project aims to revise the digital learning materials from Climate Physics meets BNE for publication as Open Educational Resources (OER).

Short Description

Climate Physics meets BNE combines, in a blended-learning format, subject-specific competence in climate change with cross-cutting perspectives from Education for Sustainable Development (BNE) and science communication.

The project builds on existing digital learning materials, including interactive H5P elements with original videos and exercises. These materials are currently available within Moodle courses for participants in seminars and lectures.

Within the OER Fellowship, the materials will be revised—especially where third-party content is not licensed under Creative Commons (e.g., textbook excerpts)—and then published as OER.

Transfer Potential Beyond the Course / Discipline

The materials address a broad range of disciplines and cross-cutting perspectives. They can be used in the following teaching and learning contexts within STEM and beyond:

  • Development of content-related competencies in the climate system and the current state of climate research
  • Development of process-related competencies in Education for Sustainable Development (BNE) and/or science communication

The course Climate Physics meets BNE has already achieved notable visibility. The team has published on its course design, conducted workshops, and contributed to the bwGPT project.

Colleagues from STEM and BNE communities have repeatedly expressed interest in these materials. Through institutional networks—and especially through teaching exchanges and public events at HSE and heiSKILLS—the team can promote the OER after publication and discuss use cases with interested colleagues.
