Project Profile Critical Film Analysis

Project Objective

The project aims to develop an H5P course on critical film analysis as an Open Educational Resource (OER).

Short Description

An existing digital course on critical film analysis—already tested in teaching and available in both German and English—is being further developed into a professional, citable, and legally compliant OER.

The project focuses on three tasks:

  1. a systematic review and revision of the content,
  2. a didactic reflection on how to address sensitive topics, particularly those related to discrimination, and
  3. the clarification of legal issues.

Transfer Potential Beyond the Course / Discipline

Critical film analysis is inherently interdisciplinary. It connects to fields such as political theory, film sociology, media studies, and the humanities more broadly. It also engages with key issues in gender studies, feminist theory, and critical race research, as well as with the broader analysis of social power relations. The subject is therefore well suited not only for specialized courses but also for interdisciplinary formats such as Studium Generale.
