Project Profile RelAI – Building a Digital Scholar of Religion
Project Objective
The project explores the opportunities and limits of using AI in the humanities and cultural studies.
Short Description
The project develops, together with students, a digital scholar of religion (“Theoria”) based on ChatGPT. This system is designed to observe, analyze, and comment on religious developments. AI is used as a dialogical counterpart. Through this interaction, students learn to develop perspectivity, contextual sensitivity, and analytical distance. The results are systematically evaluated and prepared as a transferable teaching model for the humanities and cultural studies.

Transfer Potential Beyond the Course / Discipline
The project is designed for students of Religious Studies (BA/MA), but it can be transferred to other humanities and cultural disciplines that rely on text-based and interpretive methods—such as philosophy, theology, or literary studies. The materials developed in the project (prompts, analytical protocols, and reflections) can be reused in related fields.
