2026 Fellowship – AI in Teaching

Artificial Intelligence creates new possibilities for teaching, learning, and assessment—provided it is used responsibly. The heiSKILLS Fellowship supports teaching projects that meaningfully integrate AI into courses and assessment formats and enable students to engage with AI critically and reflectively. Ten selected projects receive funding and are presented here in profile form.

AI for Open Science: Rethinking Replication and Methods Teaching in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

The project aims to develop and test a two-semester teaching format that systematically integrates Open Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Algorithmic Futures – How Large Language Models Translate History into Future Scenarios

The project aims to empirically investigate how Large Language Models translate historical texts—specifically late antique sources about foreigners—into future scenarios.

RelAI – Building a Digital Scholar of Religion

Exploration of the opportunities and limits of AI use in the humanities and cultural studies

Using AI to Enhance Reading Competence

The participatory development and implementation of a reading course in sociological theory in which students use an AI chatbot to develop competencies in engaging with, summarizing, and revising texts.

AI Tutor: Implementation And Evaluation of an LLM-Based Tutor

Further development, implementation, and evaluation of a language model–based AI tutor for content-related questions, self-assessment, and evaluation.

AI-Powered Personalized Assignment System

This project aims to personalize assignments to align with each student’s academic background, research interests, and thesis orientation, based on an AI-powered framework.

MaMpf AI – from Lecture to Knowledge Graph

AI-supported organization and interconnection of lecture content within the MaMpf e-learning platform to improve search, structuring, and didactic use.
